Robert Barnewall, 9th Baron Trimlestown was the son of Matthias Barnewall, 8th Baron Trimlestown and Hon. Jane Netterville.1 He married Margaret Dongan, daughter of Sir John Dongan, 2nd Bt. and Mary Talbot, on 20 July 1668.1 He died in June 1689.1
He succeeded as the 9th Baron Trimlestown, of Trimlestown, co. Meath [I., 1461] on 17 September 1667.1
