     Sir John Portman, 3rd Bt. was born circa 1605.¹ He was the son of Sir John Portman, 1st Bt. and Anne Gifford.² He died on 12 December 1624 at Wadham College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, unmarried.¹
     He was educated at Wadham College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Portman, of Orchard Portman, co. Somerset [E., 1612] in February 1623/24.¹

     Sir Hugh Portman, 4th Bt. was born circa 1608.¹ He was the son of Sir John Portman, 1st Bt. and Anne Gifford.² He died before 14 May 1632, unmarried.¹
     He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Portman, of Orchard Portman, co. Somerset [E., 1612] on 12 December 1624.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taunton in 1625.¹ He was educated at Exeter College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taunton from 1628 to 1629.²

     Sir William Portman, 5th Bt. was born circa 1610.¹ He was the son of Sir John Portman, 1st Bt. and Anne Gifford.² He married Anne Colles, daughter of John Colles and Elizabeth Wyndham, before 1644.¹ He died between September 1645 and 1648 at Tower of London, London, England, while imprisoned.¹
     He was educated at Wadham College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.² He was admitted to Middle Temple.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Portman, of Orchard Portman, co. Somerset [E., 1612] before 14 May 1632.¹ He held the office of Sheriff of Somerset from 1637 to 1638.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taunton between February 1640 and 1642/43.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taunton between April 1640 and May 1640.² His estate was sequestrated by the Parliamentarians for £20,000.² He fought in the Battle of Naseby in 1645, where he was taken prisoner by the Parliamentarians.¹

     Anne Colles is the daughter of John Colles and Elizabeth Wyndham.² She married Sir William Portman, 5th Bt., son of Sir John Portman, 1st Bt. and Anne Gifford, before 1644.³
     She was also known as Elizabeth Colles.³ From before 1644, her married name became Portman.

     Sir William Portman, 6th Bt. was born between 1641 and 1644.¹ He was the son of Sir William Portman, 5th Bt. and Anne Colles.² He married, firstly, Elizabeth Cutler, daughter of Sir John Cutler, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Foote.¹ He married, secondly, Elizabeth Southcote, daughter of Sir Thomas Southcote.² He married, thirdly, Mary Holman, daughter of Sir John Holman.² He died on 20 March 1689/90, without issue.²
     He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Portman, of Orchard Portman, co. Somerset [E., 1612] circa September 1645.¹ He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in 1661.¹ He was appointed Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taunton between 1661 and 1679.² He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1664.¹ He was educated at All Souls' College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taunton between 1685 and 1690.² He fought in the Battle of Sedgemoor on 6 July 1685.² On 8 July 1685 with Lord Lumley, he captured Duke of Monmouth following the latter's failed uprising.² On his death, his baronetcy expired, and Orchard Portman and other estates worth £8,000 p.a. passed to his cousin Henry Seymour later Portman.¹

     Elizabeth Cutler was the daughter of Sir John Cutler, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Foote.^2,3 She married Sir William Portman, 6th Bt., son of Sir William Portman, 5th Bt. and Anne Colles.¹
     Her married name became Portman.

     Joan Portman is the daughter of Sir John Portman, 1st Bt. and Anne Gifford.² She married George Speke.¹
     Her married name became Speke.

     George Speke married Joan Portman, daughter of Sir John Portman, 1st Bt. and Anne Gifford.¹
     He lived at Whitelackington, Somerset, England.¹

     Philippa Speke was the daughter of George Speke and Joan Portman.² She married Edward Berkeley, son of Sir Edward Berkeley and Margaret Holland, in 1654.¹ She died in 1699.¹
     From 1654, her married name became Berkeley.

     Sir Edward Berkeley was the son of Sir Henry Berkeley.² He married Margaret Holland, daughter of John Holland.² He died in 1654.²
     He lived at Pylle, Somerset, England.¹
