Lachlan McKinnon was born on 15 October 1871 at St. Nicholas, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of David Reid McKinnon and Annie Caroline Arrowsmith.1 He died on 17 April 1903 at age 31 at Gumburru, Somaliland, killed in action.1
He fought in the Somaliland Expedition.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 2nd Battalion, Derbyshire Regiment.1
