Aedh 'Dubh' O'Neill1

Aedh 'Dubh' O'Neill was the son of Art 'Og' O'Neill and Ellen MacCarthy.2 He died before 1667, killed fighting in Spanish service against Portugal, without issue.1
He was styled as 7th Earl of Tyrone.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1646 in the Confederate Irish forces (having been a senior commander of them from 1642 under his uncle Owen Roe.)1 He held the office of Governor of Clonmel in 1650.1 He held the office of Governor of Limerick.1 On 29 October 1651 he was obliged to capitulate to Ireton.1 From January 1651/52 to April 1653 he was imprisoned in the Tower of London, after which went back to Spain.1

Owen 'Roe' O'Neill was the son of Art McBaron O'Neill.2 He died on 6 November 1649.1
He gained the rank of Officer in the Spanish service.1 He was also known as Eoghan 'Ruadh' O'Neill.1 In 1640 he held Arras against the French till obliged to capitulate.1 He gained the rank of General in 1642 in the Irish Confederate Army.1 He fought in the Battle of Benburb in 1646, where he defeated the Scots in Ireland.1

Henry 'Roe' O'Neill was the son of Owen 'Roe' O'Neill.2 He married Eleanor FitzGerald, daughter of Sir Luke FitzGerald.1 He died in July 1650 at Londonderry, County Londonderry, Ireland, beheaded after his capture by the English the previous month.1

Eleanor FitzGerald is the daughter of Sir Luke FitzGerald.2 She married Henry 'Roe' O'Neill, son of Owen 'Roe' O'Neill.1
Her married name became O'Neill.
