     Sir Harry Oakes, 1st Bt. was born on 23 December 1874.1 He was the son of William Pitt Oakes and Edith Nancy Lewis.2 He married Eunice Myrtle McIntyre, daughter of Thomas McIntyre, on 30 June 1923.1 He died on 12 July 1943 at age 68, found murdered in his bed.1
     He was educated at Dover-Foxcroft Academy, Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, U.S.A.1 He graduated from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine, U.S.A., in 1896 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) [Bahamas]1 He held the office of Member of the Legislative Council (M.L.C.) [Bahamas]1 He was President of Lake Shore Gold Mine Ontario.1 He was created 1st Baronet Oakes, of Nassau, in the Bahama Islands [U.K.] on 27 July 1939.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Geographical Society (F.R.G.S.)1

     Jessie Oakes was born on 30 December 1877.1 She was the daughter of William Pitt Oakes and Edith Nancy Lewis.2 She married, firstly, George Jay Babson on 10 May 1900.1 She married, secondly, Lincoln Paul Ellis, son of G. R. de Ellis y de Moncada, on 10 February 1925.1 She died on 20 August 1959 at age 81.1
     From 10 May 1900, her married name became Babson.1 From 10 February 1925, her married name became Ellis.1
