     Lt.-Col. Brownlow Villiers Layard was born on 3 January 1838.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Brownlow Villiers Layard and Elizabeth Digby.¹ He married Clara Lattey, daughter of Robert John Lattey and Rebecca Payne, on 4 November 1882.¹
     He lived at Deep Cove, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada^G.² He lived at Riversdale, County Dublin, Ireland.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 28th (Gloucestershire) Regiment.¹
