Georg III Landgraf von Hessen-Itter was born on 29 September 1632 at Darmstadt, Germany.1,2 He was the son of Georg II Landgraf von Hessen-Darmstadt and Sophie Eleanor von Sachsen.1 He married Dorothea Auguste von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Franzhagen, daughter of Johann Christian Herzog von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Franzhagen and Anne von Oldenburg, on 5 May 1661.2 He married Juliane Alexandrine von Leiningen-Heidenheim, daughter of Emich XIII Graf von Leiningen, on 21 July 1667.2 He died on 19 July 1676 at age 43 at Hof Lauterbach, Vöhl, Germany.1,2
