     Sir James Somerville, 4th of Cambusnethan was born circa 1539.2 He was the son of John Somerville, 3rd of Cambusnethan and Elizabeth Carmichael.2 He married Margaret Hamilton, daughter of Archibald Hamilton, 5th of Raploch and Margaret Hamilton.2 He died in September 1613.2
     Sir James Somerville, 4th of Cambusnethan also went by the nick-name of James 'Velvet Eye'.2

     He sold Whiteford and Mylntoun in 1670.1
