     Sir John Courtown Edward Shelley-Rolls, 6th Bt. was born on 5 August 1871.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir Charles Shelley, 5th Bt. and Lady Mary Jane Jemima Stopford.1 He married Hon. Eleanor Georgiana Rolls, daughter of John Allan Rolls, 1st Baron Llangattock and Georgiana Marcia Maclean, on 23 April 1898.2 He died on 18 February 1951 at age 79.1
     He was given the name of John Courtown Edward Shelley at birth.1 He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Boer War in 1900.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Scots Guards.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Monmouthshire.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hampshire.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Shelley, of Castle Goring, co. Sussex [U.K., 1806] on 20 July 1902.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 3rd Queen's Westminsters Cadet Battalion.1 On 19 May 1917 his name was legally changed to John Courtown Edward Shelley-Rolls by Royal Licence.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Monmouthshire in 1928.1

Sir Charles Shelley, 5th Bt. and Lady Mary Jane Jemima Stopford, on 23 April 1898.1 She died on 15 September 1961 at age 88.3
     From 23 April 1898, her married name became Shelley. On 19 May 1917 her name was legally changed to Shelley-Rolls.1

     John Allan Rolls, 1st Baron Llangattock was born on 19 February 1837.1 He was the son of John Etherington Welch Rolls and Elizabeth Mary Long.1,2 He married Georgiana Marcia Maclean, daughter of Sir Charles Fitzroy Maclean, 9th Bt. and Emily Eleanor Marsham, on 20 October 1868.1 He died on 24 September 1912 at age 75.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Monmouthshire in 1875.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Monmouthshire between 1880 and 1885.1 He was created 1st Baron Llangattock, of the Hendre, co. Monmouth [U.K.] on 30 August 1892.1 He held the office of Mayor of Monmouth between 1896 and 1899.1
