Geoffrey Dominick Augustus Frederick Guthrie, 2nd Baron Oranmore and Browne was born on 8 June 1819.2 He was the son of Dominick Browne, 1st Baron Oranmore and Browne and Catherine Anne Isabella Monck.2 He married Christina Guthrie, daughter of Alexander Guthrie, on 31 December 1859.2 He died on 15 November 1900 at age 81.2
He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.2 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Mayo in 1841.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Ayrshire.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Mayo.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Ayrshire.2 He succeeded as the 1st Baron Oranmore and Browne of Carra Browne Castle in Oranmore, in the county of the town of Galway and of Castle Mac Garrett in the county of Mayo [I., 1836] on 30 January 1860.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1869.1
