Reverend Archibald MacCallum of Dunoronsay, 4th of Poltalloch was born circa 1595.1 He was the son of Reverend John MacCullum and Katherine Bannatyne.2 He married, secondly, Janet MacLachlan.1 He married, firstly, Janet Boyd, daughter of John Boyd, circa 1635.1
He graduated from Glasgow University, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, in 1627 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was Minister in 1639 at Kilmichael-Glassary, Scotland.1 On 14 July 1642 he was served heir to his cousin in Poltalloch.1
In 1650 he translated the 'Shorter Cathechism.1' In 1659/60 he tanslated parts of the Bible into Gaelic.1
