Lachlan Macpherson was born in 1714.2 He is the son of Lachlan Macpherson, of Cluny Macpherson and Nuide, 11th Chief and Jean Cameron.3 He married Catharine Campbell, daughter of Duncan Campbell, 3rd of Auchlyne and Louisa Campbell, on 28 February 1758.2 He died in 1777.2

Lt.-Col. Duncan Macpherson of Cluny Macpherson, 13th Chief was born in 1748. He was the son of Ewan Macpherson of Cluny Macpherson, 12th Chief and Janet Fraser.2 He married, secondly, Catherine Cameron, daughter of Sir Ewen Cameron of Fassiefern, 1st Bt. and Louisa Campbell, on 12 June 1798.1 He died on 1 August 1817.1
He fought in the American War of Independence, with the 71st Fraser Highlanders.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 3rd Scots Fusiliers Guards.1 He recovered his ancestral lands, largely at the intercession and through the generosity of his kinsman James Macpherson of Belleville, to whom they had been offered by the Government.1 He was known as ‘Duncan of the Kiln' from the corn kiln on his father's estates in which he was born after Cluny Castle had been destroyed by the Duke of Cumberland.1
