Hector Maclean, 1st of Lochbuie was the son of John 'Dubh' Maclean, 1st of Duart and unknown daughter Comyn.2 He married, firstly, Christina MacLeod, daughter of Murdoch MacLeod.1 He married, secondly, Mor (?), daughter of Goffaid Ui Balbhan.1 He died in 1406.1
He was progenitor of Clan Gillean of Lochbuie (or Siol Eachainn.)1 Hector Maclean, 1st of Lochbuie also went by the nick-name of Eachainn Reaganach (or in English, 'the Astute.') Circa 1360 he received a grant from the Lord of the Isles for Lochbuie.1
