     Lt.-Col. Richard Hort was born circa 1804.2 He married Barbara MacGregor, daughter of Lt.-Col. Robert MacGregor and Barbara Mackenzie, on 27 September 1826.1,2 He died on 23 December 1857.2
     He gained the rank of officer in the Queen's Regiment of Life Guards.2 He gained the rank of officer in the 8th Regiment of Hussars.2 He gained the rank of officer in the 81st Regiment of Infantry.2 He was officer administering the Government of Dominica between 1840 and 1842.2 He gained the rank of Deputy Adjutant-General in the Windward and Leeward Command.1

Sir John Murray MacGregor of Mac Gregor, 1st Bt.1

     Sir John Murray MacGregor of Mac Gregor, 1st Bt. was born on 10 April 1745.1 He was the son of Evan MacGregor and Janet Macdonald.2 He married Anne Macleod, daughter of Roderick Macleod of Bernera, in 1774.1 He died on 28 June 1822 at age 77.1
     He held the office of Auditor-General [Bengal].1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Honourable East India Company Service.1 Circa 1793 an Act of Parl was passed repealing the statutes against Clan Gregor and allowing the names Gregor and MacGregor to be used again.2 Soon afterwards 856 clansmen of the name MacGregor subscribed a deed admitting John MacGregor or Murray of Lanrick to be ‘proper and true Chief of the Clan Alpin.2' He held the position of 18th Chief of the Clan Gregor from in 1795.1 He was created 1st Baronet MacGregor, of Lanrick and Balquhidder [Great Britain] on 3 July 1795.1

     Anne Macleod was the daughter of Roderick Macleod of Bernera.2 She married Sir John Murray MacGregor of Mac Gregor, 1st Bt., son of Evan MacGregor and Janet Macdonald, in 1774.1 She died on 5 February 1830.1
     From 1774, her married name became MacGregor.

Maj.-Gen. Sir Evan John Murray Mac Gregor of Mac Gregor, 2nd Bt.1

     Maj.-Gen. Sir Evan John Murray Mac Gregor of Mac Gregor, 2nd Bt. was born in January 1785.1 He was the son of Sir John Murray MacGregor of Mac Gregor, 1st Bt. and Anne Macleod.2 He married Lady Elizabeth Murray, daughter of John Murray, 4th Duke of Atholl and Hon. Jane Cathcart, on 28 May 1808 at Duke of Atholl's house, Portman Square, London, EnglandG.3 He died on 14 June 1841 at age 56.2
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 15th Light Dragoons.3 He held the position of 19th Chief of the Clan Gregor from in 1822.1 He held the office of Governor of the Windward Islands.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet MacGregor, of Lanrick and Balquhidder [G.B., 1795] on 28 June 1822.1 On 22 December 1822 his name was legally changed to Evan John Murray Mac Gregor by Royal Licence.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Hanoverian Order (G.C.H.)1
