Charles John MacDermot, The MacDermot, Prince of Coolavin was born on 20 February 1899.1 He was the son of Charles Edward MacDermot, The MacDermot, Prince of Coolavin and Caroline Mary Whyte.2 He married Julia Mary Felicity MacDermot, daughter of Edward Terence MacDermot, on 20 November 1954.1 He died on 7 May 1979 at age 80, without issue.1
He lived at Stonyhurst College, Blackburn, Lancashire, England.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He was assistant manager then manager of Jebong (Perak) Rubber Estate in 1925.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he became a POW.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1942 in the Perak Local Defense Corps.1
