     He fought in the First World War, and he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1916.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1918.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 59 Scinde Rifles, Indian Army.¹

     Douglas Campbell Ward-Campbell was the son of Hans Emil Baron von Scheuking.¹ He married Sylvia Guion Leeds, daughter of Lt.-Col. Thomas Louis Leeds and Clara Guion Kilbourne, on 12 January 1943.¹ He died on 23 July 1976.^1,2
     He was given the name of Douglas Campbell von Scheuking at birth.²

     Sylvia Guion Leeds was born on 2 October 1914.¹ She was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Thomas Louis Leeds and Clara Guion Kilbourne.² She married Douglas Campbell Ward-Campbell, son of Hans Emil Baron von Scheuking, on 12 January 1943.¹ She died on 27 June 2005 at age 90.³
     From 12 January 1943, her married name became Ward-Campbell.
