Lt.-Col. Robert Walter Edmund Knollys was born on 10 November 1872.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. William Wallingford Knollys and Sophia Elizabeth Tuckfield Goldsworthy.2 He married Etheldred Mary Murray, daughter of James Murray, on 24 October 1908.1 He died on 17 July 1941 at age 68.1
He fought in the North-West Frontier between 1897 and 1898.1 He was admitted to Inner Temple entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Indian Army.1 He held the office of District and Sessions Judge [Punjab].1 He was awarded the Albert Medal (A.M.)1 He was awarded the Kaisar-i-Hind Medal.1

Etheldred Mary Murray was the daughter of James Murray.2 She married Lt.-Col. Robert Walter Edmund Knollys, son of Lt.-Col. William Wallingford Knollys and Sophia Elizabeth Tuckfield Goldsworthy, on 24 October 1908.1 She died on 30 April 1955.1
She was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.)1 From 24 October 1908, her married name became Knollys.
