Sir Gilbert King, 4th Bt. was born on 30 May 1846.1 He was the son of Sir Gilbert King, 3rd Bt. and Mary Vigogne.2 He married, firstly, Charlotte Heard, daughter of Robert Heard, on 6 December 1888.1 He married, secondly, Louise Scudder Ryall Sweet, daughter of Lt.-Col. Henry Baker Sweet, on 5 January 1897.1 He died on 9 July 1920 at age 74.1
He graduated from Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1873 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Roscommon in 1892.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Leitrim in 1894.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet King, of Charlestown, co. Roscommon [U.K., 1815] on 14 November 1895.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Sligo in 1909.1
