Baldwin de Béthune, Seigneur de Choques was the son of Robert de Béthune, Seigneur de Béthune and Adelaide (?)1 He married Hawise, Countess of Aumale, daughter of William 'le Gros', Count of Aumale and Cecilia MacWilliam, after 1195.1 He died on 13 October 1212.1 He was buried at Abbey of Meaux, Meaux, FranceG.1
He gained the title of Seigneur de Choques, in Artois.1 After his marriage, Baldwin de Béthune, Seigneur de Choques was styled as Count of Aumale after 1195.1 In 1196 his castle at Aumale was captured by the King of France.1
