     Sir James Johnstone of Westerhall was the son of James Johnstone of Westerhall and Isabel Scott.2 He married Margaret Bannatyne, daughter of John Bannatyne of Corehouse.1 He died on 18 November 1699.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries Sheriffdom [Scotland] between 1689 and 1699.1

     Philadelphia Johnstone was born on 21 June 1688 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 She was the daughter of Sir John Johnstone, 1st Bt. and Rachel Johnston.3 She was baptised on 28 June 1688.2 She married James Douglas, son of James Douglas, on 28 April 1703.1,2 She died on 9 October 1765 at age 77 at St. Mungo, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.2
     From 28 April 1703, her married name became Douglas.
