Sir Walter Clervaux Chaytor, 5th Bt. was born on 27 February 1874.2 He was the son of Sir William Chaytor, 3rd Bt. and Mary van Straubenzee.3 He married Alexandra Leila Hervey, daughter of Rev. Canon Frederick Alfred John Hervey and Mabel Elizabeth Lennox, on 7 January 1909.1 He died on 9 July 1913 at age 39.2
He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.2 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Chaytor, of Croft, co. York [U.K., 1831] on 25 April 1908.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the North Riding, Yorkshire.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Durham.2
