Andrew Weir, 1st Baron Inverforth was born on 24 April 1865.1 He married Anne Dowie, daughter of Thomas Kay Dowie, on 1 August 1889.1 He died on 17 September 1955 at age 90.1
He was President of Andrew Weir Shipping and Trading.1 He was chairman of Bank Line.1 He was Surveyor-General, War Office in 1919.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1919.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal (D.S.M.) in 1919 U.S.1 He held the office of Minister of Munitions and Supply between 1919 and 1921.1 He was created 1st Baron Inverforth, of Southgate, co. Middlesex [U.K.] on 5 February 1919.1 He was Honorary President of Cable and Wireless.1 He was awarded the Knight Grand Cross, Order of Danebrog in 1937.1
