Harold Goodwin Innes was born on 10 August 1876.1 He was the son of Charles Edward Innes and Gertrude Jackson.2 He married Ella Elizabeth Octavia Hirsch, daughter of Jacob Francis Hirsch, on 27 July 1905.1
He was educated at H.M.S. Britannia, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of officer between 1890 and 1913 in the Royal Navy.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1897.1 He was Deputy Chief Inspector, Royal National Lifeboat Institute between 1913 and 1914.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was Deputy Chief Inspector, Royal National Lifeboat Institute in 1918.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court on 10 January 1944.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1947.1
