Robert Hunter, 20th of Hunterston was born after 1611.2 He was the son of Patrick Hunter, 19th of Hunterston and Jean Cunninghame.3 He married, secondly, Marion Cunninghame, daughter of James Cuninghame of Aiket.1 He married by contract, firstly, Elizabeth Crawford, daughter of Patrick Crawford of Auchinames and Jane Crawford, on 29 August 1635.1 He died in December 1679.1
