     Air Chief Marshal Sir Basil Edward Embry was the son of Reverend James Embry.¹ He married Margaret Mildred Norfolk Hope Elliot, daughter of Commander Charles Sinclair Elliot and Florence Louisa Dudley, on 1 August 1928.¹ He died in 1977.¹
     He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.)¹ He was awarded the Air Force Cross (A.F.C.)¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (D.F.C.)¹ He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.)¹ He gained the rank of Air Chief Marshal in the Royal Air Force.¹
