     Her married name became Birkin.

     Major Harry Laurence Birkin was born on 17 March 1872.2 He was the son of Sir Thomas Isaac Birkin, 1st Bt. and Harriet Tebbutt.1,2 He married Olive Isobel Russell, daughter of Reverend Henry Charles Russell and Hon. Leila Louisa Millicent Willoughby, on 29 April 1909.1 He died on 6 January 1951 at age 78.1
     He gained the rank of Honorary Lieutenant.2 He fought in the Boer War in 1900, where he was mentioned in despatches.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Imperial Yeomanry.3 He fought in the First World War, where he was again mentioned in despatches.2 He gained the rank of Major in the South Nottinghamshire Hussars.2 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1

     He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Birkin, of Ruddington Grange, Nottingham [U.K., 1905] on 22 June 1933.1

     He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1900.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He gained the rank of Major in the South Nottinghamshire Hussars, Imperial Yemanry.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the South Nottinghamshire Hussars, Imperial Yemanry.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Nottinghamshire.1
