Charles Gore Hay, 20th Earl of Erroll was born on 7 February 1852.¹ He was the son of Major William Harry Hay, 19th Earl of Erroll and Eliza Amelia Gore.¹ He married Mary Caroline L'Estrange, daughter of Edmund L'Estrange and Lady Henrietta Susan Beresford Lumley, on 11 August 1875.¹ He died on 8 July 1927 at age 75.¹
