     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England^G.¹ He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He fought in the Boer War.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1916.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1918.¹ He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.¹ He was AQMG of the Aldershot Command between 1925 and 1928.¹ He was commander of the 138th (Lincoln and Leicestershire) Infantry Brigade between 1928 and 1932.¹ He retired from the military in 1932, with the rank of Colonel, late of the King's Royal Rifle Corps.¹

     Mary Augusta Rennie was the daughter of George Banks Rennie and Charlotte Julia Paget.¹ She married Colonel Gerald Hamilton Martin, son of William John Martin and Emily Mary Letitia Hamilton, on 5 May 1908.¹ She died on 12 January 1965.¹
     From 5 May 1908, her married name became Martin.¹

     Sir Richard Augustine Studdert Redmayne was born on 22 July 1865 at South Dene, Low Fell, County Durham, England.¹ He was the son of John Marriner Redmayne and Jane Anne Studdert.¹ He married Edith Rose Richards, daughter of Thomas Picton Richards, in 1898.¹ He died on 27 December 1955 at age 90 at Lodge Farm, Little Hadham, Hertfordshire, England.¹
     He was educated at Durham College of Science, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England.¹ He was Professor of Mining between 1902 and 1908 at Birmingham University, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England^G.¹ He was chief inspector of mines, Home Office between 1908 and 1919.¹ He was appointed Knight in 1914.¹ He was appointed Fellow, Geological Society (F.G.S.)³ He was president of the Institution of Professional Civil Servants between 1922 and 1955.¹

     Major Charles Hamilton Martin was born on 23 April 1882.¹ He was the son of William John Martin and Emily Mary Letitia Hamilton.¹ He married Katherine Mary Nettlefold, daughter of Edward Nettlefold, on 16 January 1918.¹ He died on 4 December 1969 at age 87.¹
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England^G.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹ He was chairman and managing director of Mountsorrel Granite Company Ltd.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Leicestershire in 1923.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1947.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Leicestershire in 1949.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the Leicestershire Yeomanry.¹ He lived at Kinchley House, Rothley, Leicestershire, England^G.¹

     Katherine Mary Nettlefold is the daughter of Edward Nettlefold.¹ She married Major Charles Hamilton Martin, son of William John Martin and Emily Mary Letitia Hamilton, on 16 January 1918.¹
     She was vice-president of the British Red Cross Society, Leicestershire.¹ From 16 January 1918, her married name became Martin.¹ She was with the War Trade Intelligence Branch of the Foreign Office during the Second World War.¹ She lived in 1972 at Billesdon Manor, Billesdon, Leicestershire, England^G.¹
