Alured Ussher Greer was born on 9 November 1870.1 He was the son of Arthur Jackson Greer and Emma Horsfall.2 He married Mary Gertrude Sowerby, daughter of Thomas Charles Johnson Sowerby, on 5 April 1923.1 He died on 29 December 1946 at age 76, without issue.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the Yorkshire Regiment.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was Assistant Controller, Ministry of Munitions.1 He was Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1918.1
