     Shaw Mackintosh of Mackintosh was the son of Duncan MacDuff, 3rd Earl of Fife.¹ He died in 1179.¹
     In 1163 he successfully suppressed, by order of King Malcolm IV of Scotland, a rebellion in Morayland, and was rewarded with the lands of Petty and Breachley with the forest of Strathdearn.¹ He held the office of Constable of the Castle of Inverness.¹

     Shaw Mackintosh, 2nd of Mackintosh was the son of Shaw Mackintosh of Mackintosh.² He died in 1210.¹
     He was Chamberlain of the Crown Revenues in his part of the north and he received from William the Lion, King of Scots confirmation of his father's grants in 1165.¹

     Ferquhard Mackintosh, 3rd of Mackintosh was the son of Shaw Mackintosh, 2nd of Mackintosh.² He died in 1240, without issue.¹
     In an agreement with Bishop Moray, he is quoted as Seneschal of Badenoch.¹ He was brought up by kinsman, Malcolm, Earl of Fife.¹

     In 1236 he obtained a lease of Rothiemurchus in Strathspey but not the feu-right till 1464.¹ He acquired Meikle Geddes and the castle of Rait.¹

     Ferquhard Mackintosh, 5th of Mackintosh was the son of Shaw Mackintosh, 4th of Mackintosh.² He died in 1265, killed in a duel.¹
     The MacGillivrays put themselves under his protection and joined themselves to the Mackintosh Clan.¹ He was chosen to lead the Badenoch people against the Norwegians on behalf of King Alexander III.¹ He lived at Rothiemurchus, Scotland^G.¹

     Angus Mackintosh, 6th of Mackintosh was the son of Ferquhard Mackintosh, 5th of Mackintosh.² He married Eva of Chattan, daughter of Dougal, 6th Captain of Clan Chattan, in 1291.¹ He died in 1345.¹
     During his minority, the Comyns seized Meikle Geddes, Rait and the castle of Inverness and the Mackintoshes did not regain them for another hundred years.¹ He had five other sons and two daughters.¹ In 1319 he received a grant of lands of Benchar, in Badenoch, from which the Comyns had been expelled.¹

     William Mackintosh, 7th of Mackintosh was the son of Angus Mackintosh, 6th of Mackintosh and Eva of Chattan.^2,1 He married, firstly, Florence Campbell, daughter of unknown Campbell, Thane of Cawdor.¹ He married Margaret MacLeod, daughter of Roderick MacLeod, 5th of the Lewes and Margaret Macdonald.² He died in 1368.¹
     He held the position of 8th Chief of the Clan Chattan from.¹ In 1336 he gained possession of the Barony of Moy from John Pilmore, Bishop of Moray.¹ On 19 March 1347 he obtained a new lease of Rothiemurchus.¹ On 28 February 1359 he received a confirmation of his rights in Glenloy and Loch Arkaig from King David II.¹
