Iris Mary Tempest was born on 6 November 1921.1 She was the daughter of Colonel Roger Stephen Tempest and Valerie Arthur Glover.2 She married Richard Whiteside Leeming, son of James Whiteside Leeming, on 3 September 1949.1 She died on 6 December 2008 at age 87.3
She was with the Auxiliary Territorial Service during the Second World War.1 From 3 September 1949, her married name became Leeming.

Sir Richard Tempest was the son of Sir John Tempest and Margaret de Holand.2 He married, firstly, Joan de Hertford, daughter of Sir Thomas de Hertford, in 1342.1 He married, secondly, Isabel de Bourne, daughter of Sir Thomas de Bourne, circa 1355. He died before October 1379.1
He was appointed Knight before 1349.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Berwick-on-Tweed in 1350.1 He held the office of Governor of Berwick, Roxburgh and Scarborough Castles between 1351 and 1375.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Roxburghshire and Berwickshire between 1351 and 1375.1
