     Lord Arthur Francis Henry Hill was born on 28 August 1895.¹ He was the son of Arthur Wills John Wellington Trumbull Hill, 6th Marquess of Downshire and Katherine Mary Hare.¹ He married Ishabel Wilhelmina Sheila MacDougall, daughter of Lt.-Col. Stewart MacDougall, on 15 October 1927.¹ He died on 25 December 1953 at age 58.¹
     Lord Arthur Francis Henry Hill usually went by his middle name of Francis.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the 2nd Dragoons, Scots Greys.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General of South Africa between 1921 and 1924.¹

     Averil Beaumont was born in 1841.¹ She was the daughter of Captain Richard Beaumont and Hon. Susan Hussey Bosville Macdonald.¹ She married Colonel Henry Hussey Vivian, 1st Baron Swansea of Singleton, son of John Henry Vivian and Sarah Jones, on 10 November 1870.¹ She died on 14 January 1934.¹
     Her married name became Vivian. After her marriage, Averil Beaumont was styled as Baroness Swansea of Singleton on 9 January 1893.
