Alexander Gunn of Badinloch and Wester Helmsdale, 7th Mackeamish was the son of Donald Gunn of Killearnan, younger and Margaret Sutherland.2 He married by contract, firstly, Mary Mackay, daughter of John Mackay of Kirtomy, on 6 June 1712.1 He married, secondly, Anne Rose, daughter of Reverend William Rose, circa 1753.1 He died circa 1763.1
In 1723 he was served heir.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1745/46 in the Sutherland Militia.1

Mary Mackay was the daughter of John Mackay of Kirtomy.2 A contract for the marriage of Mary Mackay and Alexander Gunn of Badinloch and Wester Helmsdale, 7th Mackeamish was signed on 6 June 1712.1 She died on 6 June 1746.1
