Thomas Hamar Greenwood, 1st Viscount Greenwood was born on 7 February 1870.1 He was the son of John Hamar Greenwood and Charlotte Churchill Hubbard.1 He married Margery Spencer, daughter of Reverend Walter Spencer and Anne Elizabeth Hudson, on 23 May 1911.1 He died on 10 September 1948 at age 78.1
He graduated from Toronto University, Toronto, Ontario, CanadaG, in 1895 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant between 1902 and 1905 in the King Edward's Horse.1 He gained the rank of Captain between 1905 and 1912.1 He was admitted to Gray's Inn in 1906 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for York between 1906 and 1910.1 He gained the rank of officer in the Canadian Militia.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)
