     Sir Mark Simon Robert Heathcote, 10th Bt. was born on 1 March 1941.¹ He is the son of Brig.-Gen. Sir Gilbert Simon Heathcote, 9th Bt. and Patricia Margaret Leslie.² He married Susan Mary Ashley, daughter of Lt.-Col. George Ashley, on 15 May 1976.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was with P&O SN Company between 1963 and 1970.¹ He was Counsellor with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office between 1971 and 1994.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1988.¹ He was with BP plc in 1994.¹ He lived in 2003 at Ipswich, Suffolk, England^G.¹ He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Heathcote, of the City of London [G.B., 1733] on 15 April 2014.³

     Lt.-Col. George Ashley lived at Rosamondford Lodge, Aylesbeare, Devon, England.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the The Cameronians.¹
