     Maj.-Gen Sir John Brown of Fordell was born after 1615.¹ He was the son of John Brown of Fordell and Catherine Lindsay.¹ He married Mary Scott, daughter of James Scott of Rossie, on 11 February 1648.¹ He died on 20 July 1651 at Inverkeithing, Fife, Scotland, killed in action.¹
     He fought in the Battle of Inverkeithing on 20 July 1651.¹

     Elizabeth Tennant is the daughter of Charles Tennant and Margaret Wilson.²

     John Tennant is the son of John Tennant of St. Rollox.²
