     David Bethune, 11th of Balfour was born in 1574.² He was the son of Robert Bethune, 10th of Balfour and Agnes Traill.² He married Margaret Wardlaw, daughter of Andrew Wardlaw, 7th of Torrie and Janet Durie, on 28 February 1591.² He died after 8 May 1633.²
     He was also known as David Beaton of Balfour.³
