     Captain Richard Gethin was born before 1792. He was the son of Sir Percy Gethin, 5th Bt. and Anne Nagle.² He married Jane South, daughter of Lt.-Col. unknown South, on 17 November 1819.¹ He died on 5 January 1835.¹
     He fought in the Siege of Badajoz, first through the wall at the storming of Badajoz.¹ He fought in the Peninsular Wars.¹ Between 1815 and 1821 with his Regiment, he guarded Napoleon at St. Helena.¹
