     John Upton was born on 19 April 1671.2 He was the son of Arthur Upton and Dorothy Beresford.1,2 He married Mary Upton, daughter of Francis Upton, in 1711.3
     He fought in the Capture of Liége.1 He fought in the Battle of Almanza.1 He lived at Castle Upton, County Antrim, Ireland.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Antrim.3
