Hon. George Ponsonby Prittie was born on 4 August 1808.1 He was the son of Hon. Francis Aldborough Prittie and Elizabeth Ponsonby.2 He married Henrietta Hester Gregory, daughter of Lt.-Col. unknown Gregory, on 10 October 1841.1 He died on 15 August 1871 at age 63.1
On 13 July 1855 he was granted the rank of baron's younger son.1
