     Lt.-Col. John Poyntz French was born on 4 April 1876.¹ He was the son of John French and Frances Mary Judge.² He married Effie Laura Fenwick, daughter of Kenneth N. Fenwick, on 22 December 1906.¹ He died on 2 October 1954 at age 78.¹
     He was with the Canadian North-West Mounted Police between 1894 and 1899.¹ He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1901, with 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant between 1901 and 1906 in the South African Constablry.¹ He was in Zululand Rebel1ion as Captain Johannesburg Mtd Rifles in 1906.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches four times.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the PPCLI and 1st Mounted Rifles.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Canadian Army.¹ He lived at Fort Qu'Appellle, Canada.¹

     Kenneth N. Fenwick graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)¹ He lived at Kingston, Ontario, Canada^G.¹

     Effie Laura Fenwick was the daughter of Kenneth N. Fenwick.² She married Lt.-Col. John Poyntz French, son of John French and Frances Mary Judge, on 22 December 1906.¹ She died on 10 April 1954.¹
     From 22 December 1906, her married name became French.

     John Fenwick French was born on 12 September 1907.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. John Poyntz French and Effie Laura Fenwick.² He married Marguerite Malloch, daughter of Daniel Malloch, on 8 June 1936.¹ He died on 14 November 1984 at age 77 at Kingston, Ontario, Canada.³
     He was educated at Lake Lodge School, Kingston, Ontario, Canada^G.¹ He was educated at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada^G.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He retired from the military in 1949, with the rank of Captain, late of the Royal Canadian Engineers.¹ He was a mining engineer.¹ He was Vice-President of the St. Lawrence Broadcasting Company.¹ He was Director of Kingston Housing Authority and Hotel Dieu Hospital.¹ He lived in 1976 at 260 King Street, Kingston, Ontario, Canada^G.¹
