Matilda Norton is the daughter of John William Sheppard Norton.2 She married Robert Dudley Eyre, son of Reverend Richard Booth Eyre and Sarah Persse, on 16 June 1866.1

Colonel Richard John Eyre was born on 30 October 1894.1 He was the son of Richard Booth Dudley Eyre and Mabel Tatton.2 He married, firstly, Loet St. George, daughter of Leopold St. George, on 29 October 1917.1 He married, secondly, Betsy Robertson Walter, daughter of John Sinclair Walter, on 27 January 1962.1 He died in August 1979 at age 84.3
He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was the Commandant at Burnham Military Camp, Burnham, Canterbury, New ZealandG.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the New Zealand Staff Corps.1 He lived in 1976 at 52 Brougham Street, Nelson, New ZealandG.1
