Reverend John Clere Scott Darby was born on 19 December 1830 at Warbleton, Sussex, England.2 He was the son of George Darby and Maria Homfray.3 He married, firstly, Mary Lewis Bigge, daughter of Charles John Bigge and Lewis Marianne Selby, on 3 June 1863.1 He married, secondly, Emily Mary Potter, daughter of John Potter, in 1892.1 He died in 1900.1 He died in 1901 at Monmouthshire, Wales.2
He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was the Rector at Machen, Monmouthshire, WalesG.1
