     Captain George Nicholas Hardinge was born on 11 April 1781.1 He was the son of Reverend Henry Hardinge and Frances Best.2 He died on 3 March 1808 at age 26, killed in action commanding H.M.S. San Fierenzo during the capture of the French Frigate La Piedmontaise.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy. He fought in the Napoleonic Wars.1
