Henry Ernest Wodehouse was born on 14 July 1845.1 He was the son of Colonel Philip Wodehouse and Lydia Lea.2 He married Eleanor Deane, daughter of Reverend J. Bathurst Deane, on 3 February 1877.1 He died on 27 May 1929 at age 83.1
He was with the Hong Kong Civil Service between 1869 and 1895.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1886.1
