Sir William Thomas Charley was born on 5 March 1833.1 He was the son of Matthew Charley and Mary Anne Roberts.2 He married Clara Harbord, daughter of F. G. Harbord, on 11 February 1890.1 He died on 8 July 1904 at age 71.1
