Thomas Butler was the son of Thomas Butler and Margaret Barry.2 He died on 17 January 1917, unmarried.1
He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Tipperary.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Tipperary.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Tipperary in 1880.1 He suceeded his eldest brother John in the estates but eventually sold the tenanted land to its occupiers (under the provisions of the 'Wyndham' Land Act) and bequeathed both the proceeds and Ballycarron House itself to the Church.1 He lived at Ballycarron, County Tipperary, IrelandG.1
