Captain Charles Clinton Stevens was born on 21 June 1912.1 He was the son of Herbert Charles Stevens and Irene Fynes-Clinton.2 He married, firstly, Kathleen Mary McQuilken on 14 October 1939.1 He and Kathleen Mary McQuilken were divorced in 1965.1 He married, secondly, Eileen Marguerite Renny, daughter of Jock Bruce Tailyour Renny, on 15 April 1966.2 He died on 30 March 1987 at age 74.1
He fought in the Second World War.2 He was commissioned between 1953 and 1954 with the rank of Commander, in the service of the RNAS H.M.S. Curlew Cornwall.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal New Zealand Navy.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1961 in the Australian Navigation, Torpedo and Anti-Submarine Establishment, H.M.A.S. Watson Sydney.2 He was Commodore and 2nd Naval Member and Director of Personnel, New Zealand Naval Board between 1961 and 1964.2 He held the office of Honorary Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Elizabeth II.2
