Edward Brereton was the son of Sir William Brereton and Anne Booth.2 He married Edith Birch, daughter of William Birch.1 He died circa September 1599.1 He was buried on 18 September 1599 at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1
In 1556 he took part in the settlement of Queen's County.1 On 28 February 1563 he was granted Loughtioge Castle, and was burnt by insurgents in July 1569.1 He held the office of Provost Marshal of Connaught between 1571 and 1573.1 He lived at Shannenmullen, County Laois, IrelandG.1

Ellen Brereton was the daughter of Sir William Brereton and Anne Booth.2 She married, secondly, Laurence Winnington.1 She married, firstly, John Carington, son of John Carington, on 28 February 1550.1 She died in 1612, without issue.1
