     Sir Alexander Sharp Bethune of Scotscraig, 9th Bt. was born on 21 March 1860.² He was the son of Alexander Bethune of Blebo and Margaret Maxwell.² He married Elizabeth Carnegie Maitland-Heriot, daughter of Frederick Lewis Maitland-Heriot and Martha Agnew, on 8 November 1889.¹ He died on 31 March 1917 at age 57.²
     He was given the name of Alexander Bethune at birth.² He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Bethune, of Scotscraig, co. Fife [N.S., 1683] on 10 May 1900.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Fife.² On 22 December 1916 his claim to the baronetcy was allowed by the Crown (on advice from the Privy Council) and his name placed on the Roll of Baronets by Order in Council.² His name was legally changed to Alexander Sharp Bethune.²

     Katherine Florence Barman married Cedric Randall Boult, son of Francis Boult and Ellen Grundy.¹ She died in 1927.¹

     Elizabeth Kinnear Dougall was the daughter of William Stark Dougall.¹ She married Vice-Admiral William Heriot-Maitland-Dougall, son of James Maitland-Heriot and Margaret Dalgleish, on 18 December 1851.¹ She died on 16 April 1900.¹
     From 18 December 1851, her married name became Heriot-Maitland-Dougall.¹

     William Heriot-Maitland-Dougall was born on 12 October 1852.¹ He was the son of Vice-Admiral William Heriot-Maitland-Dougall and Elizabeth Kinnear Dougall.² He married Charlotte Isabella King, daughter of Frederick King and Charlotte Mary Maitland-Heriot, on 20 May 1886.¹ He died on 3 June 1916 at age 63.¹
     He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Fife.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Fife.¹ He lived at Scotscraig, Tayport, Fife, Scotland^G.¹

     Charlotte Isabella King was born on 29 May 1858.² She was the daughter of Frederick King and Charlotte Mary Maitland-Heriot.² She married William Heriot-Maitland-Dougall, son of Vice-Admiral William Heriot-Maitland-Dougall and Elizabeth Kinnear Dougall, on 20 May 1886.¹ She died on 10 October 1953 at age 95.¹
     From 20 May 1886, her married name became Heriot-Maitland-Dougall.¹

     Captain Arnold Heriot-Maitland-Dougall was born on 29 June 1887.¹ He was the son of William Heriot-Maitland-Dougall and Charlotte Isabella King.² He married Violet Frances Parson, daughter of F. J. Parson, on 8 December 1937.¹ He died, without issue.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.¹
